Garlic.
I'm sick.
That's what I get for sliding off the Primal wagon and enjoying the holidays a wee bit too much. Between the sugar and the booze, I really did myself in good.
Hit the gym early today and mastered some squats. I can't squat nearly as much as I used to- not even close! A pathetic 40 pounds today. That, however, will improve. My goal is 150, if not more.
This was my first pre-work gym day which meant eating breakfast away from home. Breakfast was egg, sausage & quinoa muffins with ketchup, and a glass of orange juice. Coffee throughout the morning.
Typically not a huge fan of orange juice, but after a workout it sure does taste good! I actually think I'm going to be sad when it's gone, but it's definitely not something I'll be keeping in stock. Probably a good thing I didn't use it all for screwdrivers for New Years, eh?
With not feeling so hot, I couldn't wait until lunch. More soup. I'm getting a little bit souped out, to be honest, but I still have at least 3 days worth.
I remembered I had a bit of Frank's Red Hot left in the cupboard and decided to drink it with lunch. Yup, drink it. Tasted wonderful. I'll kill these germs, even if I have to burn 'em out.
I've been having an intense want for salt the past few days, and maybe this is why. I think my body was sending an early warning that there was a bugger infiltrating. Why it would need salt? Not sure, but it makes sense in my head.
With not feeling well, I was craving something to make me feel better. Early in the day after the orange juice all I wanted was Thera-Flu. That stuff is TERRIBLE! Later it evolved into a desire for kombucha. My dad was kind enough to bring me not one, but THREE bottles. I drank one today and am saving the other two for tomorrow.
I've never tried this brand before, but it was tasty! Technically I'll classify this as "medicine" and not groceries. Probiotics and all that.
I was supposed to go help a friend move 50 bags of wood pellets after work, weighing about 40 pounds each. It would have been a fantastic workout, but plans fell through. I'm a little bummed and a little relieved. There should be 2 more pallets of pellets ( say that one ten times fast!) coming, so maybe I'll still get that workout yet.
For dinner I'd planned on steak & broccoli, but my palate just is not wanting broccoli, at all, for any reason. It doesn't care how much vitamin C is in it. It's almost gag-inducing. Instead it was steak and garlic.
Then I found some tomatoes in the fridge, and sprinkled them with salt.
Yes, that's count them... 10 cloves of garlic on that steak. They were SO GOOD and I kind of wish I'd made more, but the guys are going to give me crap as it is about smelling of garlic. Nice simple dinner.
After dinner I decided to brew up some medicine. Mugwort tea with loads and loads of ginger. Man that's spicy! I doctored it up with a bit of honey. My throat's not really all that sore, but I wanted the honey anyways.
Tomorrow I'm hitting the gym again and going to work on the chest and arms. Chest press, pull-ups, shoulder press, dips.

Mmm... garlic is amazing stuff and so good for you. Great immune support. Hope you feel better. I tried Kombucha once but it tasted like watered down ACV. I didn't realize it came in different flavors though. Liking your blog :)
Thank you! Today's not much better than yesterday. The milder weather helps, and I've got kombucha for the day! More garlic for dinner tonight I believe. :)
